Fords Fuel Economy

Source:http//http://blogs.windsorstar.com
Ford is one of the best car manufactures in the world producing cars that fit everyone character, style and most important their needs. When a person goes to a garage to buy a Ford car, he/she expects to spend less on fuel prices which to me has been one of the strongest points of Ford motor co with cars designed to consume less fuel to make sure that people can afford to drive .

According to Green car reports Ford motor co is currently facing image problems which is due to the fact that the people who are driving Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta are complaining about the fuel economy of these cars which to my suprise these cars were voted best fuel economy class of 2012 making them one of the best cars to drive because of their ability to save fuel.

The perceptions of  people is that Ford is no longer having less fuel economy but its now a gas guzzler and this was said by a whooping 68% of US consumers out of 240 million and 32% still have  good opinion which goes to show that maybe Fords fuel economy efforts are now lacking because consumers are complaining, which in my view its bad for the image of an organisation like Ford who have done so much in the past and this also puts so much pressure on Fords Global Marketing chief Mr Jim Farley who is faced with a huge task of trying to influence their consumers and change these perceptions which is one the functions of Public relations and try to make sure that the company's image is well protected sustained.

  1. It is good that Ford still have 32% of good opinion, however, the 68% negative comments about it shows that it has failed to adapt to changes around where it is operating.I think that Ford was suppose to keep the same way of saving fuel while it try to adjust to petrol development worldwide.

    1. Well we can talk all we like but the bottom line is that Ford has always delivered on what consumers are looking for so people will always want what they want.

  2. These cars are really suprising me who knew that they have so many hidden agendas. It has really come to a point that in order for you to buy a good car that wont dissapoint you, you will have to do some accurate research you cannot just buy any car because of the way it looks.Even big machines or fast cars have their faults.

    1. Michell people are very arogant because you want to buy a car with a big engine and at the end of the day you want to spend less on fuel consumption thats like driving a Bmw M3 and expect to use R30 fuel from Joburg to Pretoria.

    1. Thank you Nokuthula for understanding that with cars we should carefully look at what we say before we say stuff and yes I agree with you that Ford has never disapointed and yes the standard of living is high.

    1. Yes jab Ford really needs to adapt but lets bear in mind that with people you can never satisfy their needs because they always want cars with big engines and expect to pay less in fuel consumption.

    1. Lorraine its sad to see only 32% said that Ford does still provide for their needs, while 68% think they are not so that to me is what I call arrogance from customers who really do not know what they want.

  6. Well one thing that suprises me is that, how come Ford was voted best fuel economy for 2012 and yet in the very same year there are such negative perceptions from the public???

    1. Well suprises do happen Miss Nqwaba but my honest opinion about the whole thing is that Ford do deserve the award because to me they are producers of great cars.

  7. I have heared about this issue of fuel since from 2006,it shows that Ford company is not dealing with the corncerns of their customers about the issue of fuel.I think if Ford company does not adapt to change this will affect their reputation and will lead to loss of customers.

    1. I totally disagreee with you Marvee because they would have not received an award or being voted to have some of the best cars that are fuel effeciant.

    1. Ford is not really cutting costs because Ford already is one of the best cars to drive unless you drive their Ford focus 2.0 and fiesta, which have big engines and are sports cars that consume a lot of petrol.

  9. Suppose this was'nt what Henry Ford had in mind when designing the car, but times have changed and living in this fast and furious world, Ford also had to manufacture cars with big engine. We know that big engine equals more petrol consumption. These car manufactures are in competition and they want to win in every catergory, the Focus ST is ranked in the same league as the Audio S3, Speed is KEY CHIEF! MokD

    1. Yes my friend speed is key but comfortability is everything and saving on the other hand is what everyone anticipates to do when owning a car.

  10. @ Clive i second that, it's about making sales even this car manufactures incounter problems they wont inform the customers directly as they no the sales may drop. It is wise to have a good research about the car you want to purchase be getting the unexpected.

    1. Yes Thembanator it is about making sales but take one thing into cognisance and that is without customers the is no Ford or Bmw.

  11. So as a prp what do you think ford can do to regain its image and do you think this problem was cost because ford was adapting to the new environment by creating cars that consume lots petrol instead of saving.

    1. To be a Public Relations practitioner is something else because if we check properly Ford is a Worldwide brand that can be used by anyone from anywhere in the world and with that if we can do a research about what other people think about it, we will find that people in South Africa have a more positive approach about Ford and its cars.

  12. its important for the companies to deliver when ever they make a promise to the consumer because if the company wants to sell their product they must not market their product based on false information that way they will loose their consumers

    1. No Yvonne I cannot agree with you on that matter because we buy cars with big engines and we still want to save.
